Coach Kwesi Appiah was reported to have been recently invited to the Jubilee House by the President of Ghana over the decision of Gyan to retire from the national team.
Gyan had earlier on 20th May 2019 raised some concerns about the captaincy of the upcoming AFCON Egypt tournament which he felt if it was to be taken away from him whiles he remains in the team then he recuses himself from the tournament and retires from the national team permanently.
Asamoah Gyan later announced to the public that the President of Ghana has appealed to him to rescind his decision to retire from the senior national team. He now expressed his readiness to be selected into the team.
A presidential request is one that cannot be disregarded.
I have taken the request of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in good faith, and will make myself available for selection by coach Kwasi Appiah to help win the AFCON trophy @AnimSammy @PrinxRandy @BaffourGyan4 pic.twitter.com/WSlHZrjWrd
